Aqsa Altaf and John X. Carey are a writer-director duo based in Los Angeles.

Aqsa, raised by Pakistani and Sri Lankan Muslim migrant workers in Kuwait, immigrated to the U.S. in 2013. Her Disney short American Eid is streaming on Disney+ and was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. Aqsa is a Sundance Building Bridges Fellow.

John, raised in a small Ozark town, directed the viral Dove Real Beauty Sketches, the most-viewed commercial of all time. His work has won Cannes Lions awards, with a DGA nomination for Best Commercial Direction. 

Their short film, Awayy premiered at SXSW and is being developed into a feature film, while their feature project Sonapur was showcased at the Gotham Film Market and received support from Sundance. Aqsa and John blend their distinct backgrounds to craft bold, immersive narrative films and commercials that push creative boundaries, offering audiences a fresh and captivating perspective.
